Fever is a
common sign of many diseases especially in infectious diseases. It is not a bad
thing. It is simply the defensive mechanism of your body against the invaded
micro-organisms.
If your
fever is 38.3°C (101°F) or below, don’t be afraid to let it run its course. Your body is telling you by fever that it
needs rest. So take rest.
Hannah Chow-Johnson, assistant professor at Loyola University
Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, said
'What many
parents don’t realize is that often, fevers are their child’s friend.'
'Fevers can
actually help your child recover more quickly, especially if he or she is
battling a viral illness.
When you or your kid’s fever make things disturbing, you can think
of these home remedies and if your find something unusual get to your doctor as
soon as possible.
Get rest: -
Your body is repairing. So you need to rest. Get some good sleep. Stop going
around for an outing. Get off from your work. Physical activity can rise your
temperature.
Stay
hydrated: - Drink
plenty of fluids. Fever can cause fluid loss. So keep drinking fluids and stay
hydrated. You can drink fruit juices or broth. Getting a child to drink plenty
of water is sometimes difficult, so try Popsicles or flavored ices that are
made primarily of water.
Take a
bath: - Take a bath
with lukewarm water. It helps to reduce your temperature. Or you can cool your
body with tepid sponging. Dip a towel in lukewarm water and place it on your
arm pit, groin and fore head for 20 minutes. It can help to reduce your
temperature.
Clear
your nose: - If you
suffer from runny nose, clear your nose occasionally. Irrigate your nose with water to clear the
nasal passage. I have written about how to treat common cold naturally before.
