Fever is a common sign of many diseases especially in infectious diseases. It is not a bad thing. It is simply the defensive mechanism of your body against the invaded micro-organisms.
If your fever is 38.3°C (101°F) or below, don’t be afraid to let it run its course.  Your body is telling you by fever that it needs rest. So take rest.

When you or your kid’s fever make things disturbing, you can think of these home remedies and if your find something unusual get to your doctor as soon as possible.

Get rest: - Your body is repairing. So you need to rest. Get some good sleep. Stop going around for an outing. Get off from your work. Physical activity can rise your temperature.

Stay hydrated: - Drink plenty of fluids. Fever can cause fluid loss. So keep drinking fluids and stay hydrated. You can drink fruit juices or broth. Getting a child to drink plenty of water is sometimes difficult, so try Popsicles or flavored ices that are made primarily of water.


Take a bath: - Take a bath with lukewarm water. It helps to reduce your temperature. Or you can cool your body with tepid sponging. Dip a towel in lukewarm water and place it on your arm pit, groin and fore head for 20 minutes. It can help to reduce your temperature.

Clear your nose: - If you suffer from runny nose, clear your nose occasionally.  Irrigate your nose with water to clear the nasal passage. I have written about how to treat common cold naturally before.

It contains Phenol Phytonutrients which is known for their anti bacterial anti-oxidant properties. You can use it by making a juice cutting up ¾ cup (115g)of raisins and adding to 7½ cups (1.75 l) of water. Boil this mixture and cool. Drink it 6 times daily.


Apple for fever: - You can manage your and your kid’s fever with an apple and honey.  Put apple pieces to a hot water after removing the core part and skin. Boil this solution and cool it. Add a little honey to it. Drink it.

Apple cider vinegar: - Apple cider vinegar is great home remedy for many conditions. You can use ACV to reduce your temperature in fever.  Take one part of ACV and two parts of water. Mix it well. Sock 2 cotton socks in it. Wring them and wear it on your feet. Leave it for an overnight.
Take a bath with lukewarm water added little apple cider vinegar.

Add a small piece of ginger (dried one is good) and a pinch of pepper powder to the tea. Drink it 3 times a day.  Additionally you can add 1 tsp of lemon juice and honey to it.



Oregano tea: - Put some oregano leaves to boiling water. Let it steep for 15 minutes. You can add lemon juice to it. And drink it.

Pineapple juice: - Pineapple juice can reduce your fever. It can prevent dehydration that could happen in fevers.  It can relieve your gastric problems. This is a good appetizer also.


Fenugreek: - It is an easily available home remedy for your fever. Consume 1 tsp of fenugreek with honey and lemon to reduce temperature in fevers. It helps to reduce premenstrual syndrome also.
